Making It Better is a review of the Jude Papaloka Thegenus Miami Exhibition for Haitian Heritage month sponsored by the Miani Dade County Office of the Mayor, in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clarke Center.

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Jude Thegenus, better known to some as Papaloko, is an artist, whose work is born through trance, the act of falling into a deep meditative state and then being possessed by a spirit whose purpose is to paint strokes of life onto canvas.

The Department of Defense this week released the 2012 update of its doctrine on "Peace Operations" including new guidance on so-called Mass Atrocity Response Operations that are designed to prevent or halt genocide or other large-scale acts of violence directed at civilian populations.

I learned a great deal, and I've also learned we have a lot more work to do together.

Trinidad and Tobago has ratified the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the United States, which governs the temporary presence of US military/defence personnel in Trinidad and Tobago (TT) for mutually agreed activities.

Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are in Trinidad and Tobago to meet with Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar as well as leaders of other Caribbean countries, whom Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar has graciously offered to invite to discuss the full range of bilateral and regional issues.

Last evening General Colin Powell 65th U.S. Secretary of State, 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was honored by the Sons of Italy Foundation with The 2013 Sons of Italy Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for Public Service.
